Kin, Kindred, Slayers

SKETCH stage. Though sometimes my best work never leaves that stage...

Sorry for tilty angle Not so good with a camera when I have no moneys for tripod and thus have to stand on a wobbly chair over the picture...well you get the idea, lol. Apologies.

This is a SYMBOLIC portrait of Rezo and Zelgadiss Greywers of the animanga Slayers: a great-grandfather and great-grandson who were once extremely close, and then were estranged by hideous circumstances involving the sainted Rezo's possession by the most powerful demon in their world. Imagine your primary caretaker going from a loving, nurturing, and devoted parent to a deranged self-absorbed psycho, and you know how Zelgadiss feels. It kinda tainted the kid's world-view...

Anyone who's seen season one, or episode ten of season five, knows what I'm talking about. Poor Rezo and Zelgadiss...

You may not be able to see it at this stage, but there is a red cloth tied around Rezo's eyes (blind eyes) which connects to Zelgadiss by being tied to, and strangling, his neck. These men are kin but also kindred spirits, because while they begin as wonderful philanthropists, an obsession to find a cure for their respective rare diseases (both caused by aforementioned demon) drives them apart and away from the rest of the human race, as well

I hope they get their happy ending.
